Our
Outdoor Long Range Wifi Antennas have been successfully
installed
in
the following places:
Hong Kong Science
Park
Palo Alto US
Hangzogh
PRC
Taiwan
Beijing University
E Palo Alto US
Here
is a response we got from a successful deployment in
the Peking University of Beijing.
Their
objective was to turn their University's open grounds
into a big hotspot using 2 base stations.
Here
is their response to our query:
After testing for awhile your product
we
found the following
-
We
can cover out door environment effectively with one
A8 base station covering ˝ sq km area in average.
So for a radius of 2km which equals to 12 sq km
area, we need about 24 x A8 base station. It
could be less or could be more depends on the actual
environment, but it is a good way to do your
budgeting.
-
If
you start our A8 from scratch, then first the
outdoor environment will be covered by the 24
systems, for the indoor cover, it will mostly cover
through first or second glass/wall inside the
building. However, we recommend to use a “low cost
CPE” to “Bridge” the outdoor signal to indoor which
the environment is not controlled by us.
-
Our
outdoor A8 base station will work very well with the
existing indoor AP because we have smart antenna to
maximize the RF channel utilization.
-
Each A8 base station is designed to have 256
simultaneous associated users to share total 54 Mb
bandwidth. We have tested with 63 active users
with good data performance. For 8,000 students, I
assume 20% of people will be outdoor at the same
time, and 20% of them will access internet outdoor,
then we have 320 outdoor users (8,000 x 0.2 x 0.2),
so we have about 13 users per base station (320/24)
which is well below our design limit.
-
For
application, we can use all standard WiFi terminals
which means Notebook PC, PDA, IP/WiFi phones.
However, depends on the terminal transmit power, the
distance will be varied. For example if the Note
Book PC with 50 mw transmit power we can for long
distance of transmission (500m), for others like low
power PDA/WiFi Phone with 20 mw transmit power, then
the distance will be reduced to 350m-500m.
In summary, to turn a university to a Big Hot Spot is
very easy with our WiFi Cellular Base Station. Just
plug in the RJ45, and put the Base Station on the roof
top, then the 500m radius area will be very well
covered. As simple as install your home AP!
